Why not just use WordPress?

The goal of this site/platform is to give web developers, film students and really anyone else who works in a digital field (or even not) a simple-yet-powerful website to be their digital home.

WordPress is a great platform, no doubt…but it’s a blog first and foremost and it’s a pretty complex one at that. Skinning it is not what anyone would call “easy” and it’s got a ton of bells and whistles that aren’t necessary, nor do they help one accomplish the goal of getting an online portfolio/résumé up and running quickly OR easily.

So Simpfolio is attempting to do just that. It is still very much a work-in-progress.

The design is simple. The amount of things users can do is intentionally limited so as to keep things as simple as possible.

The résumé allows for any number of jobs to be created with as much (or little) information shared about each as the user wants.

The portfolio allows for users to show off their work and (soon, after additional development work) show a gallery of related images.

The blog is exactly what one would expect, complete with tagging and a commenting system (provided you have a Disqus account). But presented in a simple, straightforward manner.
